I made this as a near ultrasonic sms signal. Created and edited with audacity, filtered with glame bandpass filter. If you hardly cut a pure tone, you introduce a whole lot of other frequencies to the signal at the cutting point. To avoid this after the cutting you need to filter the whole thing with a bandpass filter to ensure you have as little other frequency content as possible. It will audibly soften the start and the end of the sound. That's what i did here.

This is a single guitar string plucked with a pick directly at the headstock, that means between the tuners and the nut. There the string is very short and tight, resulting in a high, almost piano-like tone. Also, since there is no sound box, the tone is rather quiet. I used this for a sampler and i liked the sound of it. This is the raw recording. If you want to use it in a sampler too, i recommend adding some eq, reverb and maybe some delay. It is not perfectly in tune though, the closest note is a#. You might tweak the tuning a little bit when using it in combination with other tuned instruments. When i was eight years old my older brother told me to go play in traffic. I'm well-known for taking dares and mostly getting away with it, and i did! the only reason it freaked him out was because if i'd gotten hurt, he would have been in trouble. Ah, family. In honor of my stupid bro i decided to capture this sound for you. My friend asked if i'd gotten my recording and i, being myself, complained that although i'd gone out in daylight wearing a halter and short-shorts, no one had even slowed down to look. "take it to the next level," he said. "walk right out on the interstate in the nude. ”i smiled. "think i'd stop traffic?""oh, for sure. Truckers are curious, and most of them have never seen a dumb naked bitch smushed on the concrete, still clutching her iphone. Several years back my older brother stumbled upon a bunch of old family reel to reel films and sat down one evening to project them on a wall and digitize them. This is the sound of that process. What you can hear, i imagine, is the noise of the projector in the left channel and the sound of the reels in the right channel. I've been obsessed with the sounds of the infinite variation in old analog hardware. As a sound designer, that infinite variation is often sought after but rarely, or accurately, reproduced through digital files in various libraries. Of if they are, they're often too short to cover whatever scene i am trying to fill. On the surface it's just noise but if you listen closer it's this wonderful cacophony of overlapping and repeating sounds that are always looping but never quite identical on each rotation. It was ripped from youtube using audio hijack at 48khz/16bit, but due to youtube re-encoding things as youtube does, it's nowhere near the source. It's still, in my opinion, a sound worth sharing. The sound of an electric car being plugged in and recharged. The clip starts with the car's recharging flap being opened from inside the car, then fully opened by hand, then the plastic socket cover being opened, then picking up the charging connector and plugging it into the car. There is some clicking as the electric vehicle's cooling fan turns on for a short while. This was recorded in-person with a tascam dr-40 stereo recorder at a small, suburban farm. Created in flstudio 11 with ni massive, flstudio effector, reverb, compression and eq. Melodic snippets from recordings of me playing the swar sangam. This wonderful instrument is a combination of the swarmandal and the tanpura. 15 harp strings and 4 drone/bass strings. In these recordings i am only using the swarmandal (harp) part. It is tuned to c sharp, but i have dropped the fourth note (f sharp) out of the scale. There are four packs with lots of recordings in them; strums, plucks, short improvisations. "short melodic statements" are 1-2 bars. "riffs" are 2-4 bars. "melodies" are about 30 seconds and "runs and flutters" is experimenting with running up and down the strings. There is recording of tuning up the swarmandal in the melodies pack. The snippets were taken from recordings done on three different days so you may notice a slight difference in volume and background noise. A couple of the recordings have some ambient noise (bird tweets, wind chimes,)some of the melodies are based around a similar theme but have enough variation to be interesting/useful. This is a version of a previous file i created (https://freesound. Org/people/funwithsound/sounds/394897/)that includes a gong at the end to make it more dramatic. It would be really nice of you to credit the user "veiler" for their awesome gong sound, and maybe me for making the failure sound. But no obligations. :-). While perusing freesound for a nice and dramatic sound or two of failures, all the ones i've seen were pretty wimpy, so-to-speak. So i decided to create a few failure samples on a music-making program called musescore. These are for big whopper failures (or "epic failures") and are very dramatic - they may also be used for a scary event in a film or play. It includes a short buildup and a loud dissonant chord at the end to create suspense and horror. For this project i used violins, violas, cellos, double basses, timpani, cymbals and brass. Enjoy!.

Two samples are included, the first is about 30cm away from the microphone and the second is a close-up to the microphone. I would advice using the end of the audio file to apply noise removal however have left this upload of the sound unedited so you can tweak this yourself to find what fits your project best. Noise removal may not be necessary at all depending on how you incorporate the sound. Also to be fair, how do you add noise removal to what is essentially glorified white noise?.

Elmo omnigraphic 253af slide projector, similar to a kodak s-av 2000. Turn on, slide change at 10 second intervals, turn off. Recorded on a marantz pmd 661 with a rode nt4, horizontally 250 mm from side of projector aimed at slide entry hole. I needed this sound as part of an audio-visual that mimics a slide show. I chose to record a 10-second change interval (instead of a shorter interval) because that allows me to razor the waveform between changes, and then extend (or reduce) the time between changes. Too short a time interval between slide changes means you'd have to add motor/fan sound between every change.
